Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to suggest practical implications for diminishing problem drinking of the Elderly, through examining the effect of family cohesion on problem drinking and the mediating effect of hopelessness between family cohesion and problem drinking. To collect study data, interview survey was conducted upon 180 the Elderly who are using the Welfare Facilities for the Leisure Time in Daejeon. Multiple regression was employed for mediating effects analysis using SPSS 18.0. The analysis results revealed that family cohesion had a significant effect on problem drinking directly and indirectly through hopelessness. These results imply that family cohesion and hopelessness need to be emphasized as a strategy to diminish problem drinking of the Elderly.
